The Egg puts a unique twist on eggs Benedict for an interesting brunch experience. It comes with two crab cakes topped with poached eggs and drizzled with Cajun hollandaise sauce. If you want to stray from your usual brunch plate, order this. YAS Tally, keeping up with big city food trends. If you're not a foodie, you probably have no idea what the hell rolled ice cream is. It's a Thai street food treat that made its way over to the United States last year. Basically, liquid ice cream and mix-ins are poured onto a metal container that chills them while they're being chopped together.
Then it's scraped into rolls, resulting in the most 'grammable ice cream. All of their cupcakes are made from scratch daily. The selection of flavors changes daily and seasonally, so you never know what you're going to be able to get.
That kind of unpredictability is fun and can spice up a boring day. Any kind of cupcake you have from here is going to satisfy your sweet tooth, my personal favorite being Oreo if you haven't noticed, I love O reos. If you don't want to do the five hour drive to New Orleans, just stop by Coosh's for this fire jambalaya dish. Seasoned pita that's fried to perfection with a side of Tzatziki.
A definite favorite when dining at Pitaria. The Edison is one of my favorite restaurants in Tallahassee. The ambiance, the decor, the service, the food, all of it is amazing. I don't think I could survive a week being a vegetarian solely because of my love of steak.
This filet mignon, so tender and juicy, makes me hungry just thinking about it. Yes, just so much yes. Their menu is constantly changing, just make sure you order anything that includes their crab cakes. I promise, you won't be disappointed. I am not vegan, I like ALL the meats. Ron Swanson is my spirit animal. Sweet Pea has convinced me that vegan food can actually be good. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian, or a straight up carnivore, you must try Sweet Pea. Ice cream and toppings are personal, so I'm not just going to tell you what flavor to get or what to put on your sundae, that's up to you.
When you step into Lofty Pursuits, it's like you're stepping into a time machine that takes you back to the '50s. It has an classic old fashioned ice cream parlor feel to it. They have rare boardgames and toys to play with and other novelty items. They have an extensive menu ranging from ice cream to handmade Victorian candy. Lofty Pursuits is a true local gem. Little Athens is a mom and pop restaurant that serves the most authentic Mediterranean food in Tallahassee.
An adorable older couple own and run it and serve everything homemade. A Tallahassee list isn't complete without this staple. Try the original with all the fixins' - onions, sauerkraut, and dark mustard - it's a big sandwich, messy and delicious.
We were only here for lunch but in their outdoor area on certain nights there's live music and even a movie night. This local Tallahassee institution may be a bit challenging to find and to find parking , but it's worth the effort.
I wouldn't say it's a hole-in-the-wall or even a joint. It's a simple place to have some great food. The oysters were really fresh and sourced locally from nearby Apalachicola Bay and Cedar Key. They serve them baked or freshly shucked is there really any other way to eat 'em? We rounded out our lunch with the cheese grits, and the fried shrimp with house slaw and hush puppies.
This is the kind of local place we search for on our travels - local food with great service from a friendly staff. It's BYOB if you want, but their house-made sweet tea went well with everything. We'll definitely stop here again when we're back in Tallahassee. If you love local farm-to-table restaurants like we do, Backwoods Crossing might be just what you're looking for.
This isn't an "upscale" restaurant. It's casual and comfortable, with a creative and farm fresh menu. We ran out of time on our recent trip to Tallahassee and unfortunately missed eating here. But isn't it always good to leave something on the table for next time?

This is quintessential southern dining done right. Locally owned and operated by former chef David Gwynn and his wife Elizabeth, Cypress Restaurant is a southern regional restaurant offering creative in-house fresh meats, organic produce and fresh seafood.
With locally displayed rotating artwork and bright lights illuminating the three-room space, Cypress Restaurant offer an extensive bar selection alongside gourmet cuisine. For brunch, say yes to the eggs Benedict and mimosas until 2pm on Sundays.
For the remaining lunch and dinner hours, try the peanut, raisin and green onion crusted red grouper. Diners can enjoy gourmet food with eclectic style, surrounded by pastel drawings and local art.
